(HARTFORD) – The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and the legislatively appointed Connecticut Greenways Council are hosting the 8th annual Connecticut Trails Symposium at Southern Connecticut State University on Friday October 2, 2026, from 8:00 am to 3:30pm. The Symposium brings together local, state, and regional officials, property owners, trail managers and volunteers, and showcases how communities can gather, plan, recreate, and support Connecticut’s statewide trails systems.
The Symposium features special remarks from Acting DEEP Commissioner Emma Cimino, New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker, and the Trust for Public Lands, and includes information sharing, exhibitors from the outdoor recreation industry, and breakout sessions on such topics as the economic impact of trails. The afternoon offers a chance to see examples with a bike tour of the Farmington Canal Trail and a guided hike along the West River Greenway.
